Exhibition Statement
Housed within the walls of a once-restrictive space, Soft Tether, Loud Bloom reimagines the former police station as a site of transformation—where confinement yields to creation and constraint gives rise to life. Soft Tether, Loud Bloom brings together four artists from distinct cultural practices, whose works explore themes of containment, emergence and renewal.
Japanese b. floriculture artist Yuka Konno of Miyavi Floristry harnesses the ephemerality of flowers, arranging them in a central dialogue with Australian b. Shibori artist TBA, whose textile manipulations echo the umbilical cord—binding life and potential. The dyed and knotted fabric cradles the floral arrangements, evoking the womb as a vessel of both limitation and infinite possibility.
Mexican b. sculptor Daniel López Lomelí expands upon this exploration of form, casting structures that suggest both enclosure and expansion, the threshold between the past and the present. The tension of material and space reflects the history of the gallery itself—a place that once confined now nurtures artistic expression.
Resonating through this interplay is the immersive work of sound healer ASUKA, who employs Hertz frequencies to evoke transformation on a vibrational level. Their sonic landscapes, layered with breath and movement, mirror the rhythmic contractions of birth—both literal and metaphorical.
The exhibition is set to open as an immersive altar of renewal as Yuka Konno and Asuka collaborate in a live performance. Experience sonic sound waves, emerging from the echoes of what once was.
Here, within the walls of 281 Clarence Street, a new story is being woven—one of interconnectedness, of creation within limitation and the renaissance of life.

Daniel López Lomelí
Daniel López Lomelí is a multidisciplinary artist born in Mexico City. His practice centres on the use of discarded materials, breathing new life into objects and resources that society deems as waste. Through his work, he crafts a visceral dialogue between the intricacies of nature and the relentless advance of environmental destruction. Each piece serves as a confrontation—an invitation to witness the collision of the organic with the synthetic.
López Lomelí’s work extends beyond aesthetics; it is a call to awareness, urging viewers to reconsider their role within an increasingly eroded ecosystem. His practice immerses itself in the Chthulucene, where he navigates both despair and hope through abstract geometries.
