Clyne has exhibited over a span of fifteen years, and was a finalist in several NSW art awards, including the Mosman Art Prize. She formalized her skill by completing a Bachelor of Visual Arts in 2017 at the Sydney College of the Arts (University of Sydney). She held her first solo exhibition in July 2018.

INFORMATION

Melinda Clyne is aninterdisciplinary artist based in Sydney. In her paintings, she uses pureabstraction to ‘make physical’ otherwise enigmatic aspects of human experience.

Clyne employs colorful hard-edged shapes to indicate immovable forces, perhaps unavoidable commitments or even a crisis.

Her enlarged and fluid gestural marks are a nod to the ‘hand of the artist’, and evoke the dynamism of emotion. Interacting together, these opposing forms of mark making elicit a feeling of tension and drama, reflecting our natural response to life’s omnipresent challenges.
