SEE-SAW 20 students, 5 mentors, 1 story
The art of story telling is a collaborative effort. A story can go back and forth between people, constantly evolving as they each add imagination, embellishments and flourishes. Collaboration also isn’t a foreign concept in design. Through design we take the same back and forth process of storytelling beyond a verbal exchange into more visual and tangible outcomes.
We invite 20 students, split... into 5 groups, to interpret a single story within a given focus. Each group will be working alongside an industry professional as a source of guidance, direction and education.
The Mentors
Five industry mentors have been invited to share their experience, insights and skills as established professional designers:
· High Tea With Mrs Woo (fashion/textiles)
· Mark Gerada (environments/interiors)
· Bernabei Freeman (object/product)
· Justin Fox (graphics/visual communication)
· Zac Steinic (photography/digital media)
The public is invited to experience the story of the process to reach a visual solution via video display as each group will be assigned two days to work within Gaffa Gallery, starting from the 29th July, 2010.
The final outcomes and interpretations will then be presented at Gaffa Gallery on the 7th August, 2010, and will be open to the public till the 10th August, 2010.
Presented by &company, Gaffa and The Company We Keep.
